What Is a Mango Pineapple Smoothie?
A Mango Pineapple Smoothie is made by blending frozen mango, frozen pineapple, coconut milk, and honey until smooth and creamy.
In Thailand, fruit smoothies are everywhere. Walk through a market or beach town and you’ll see rows of blenders spinning up icy fruit drinks made with tropical Thai fruits like mangos, pineapples, watermelon, and more.

Mango Pineapple Smoothie Ingredients You’ll Need

- 2-3 tablespoons honey – Adds natural sweetness depending on how sweet your fruit is.
How to Make Mango Pineapple Smoothie
Step 1: Add ingredients to the blender
Place 2/3 cup frozen mango, 1/3 cup frozen pineapple, 1 cup coconut milk, and 2-3 tablespoons of honey into a high-speed blender.
Step 2: Blend until smooth
Blend on high for about 30 to 60 seconds until completely smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick, add a little more coconut milk until it reaches your desired consistency.
Step 3: Taste and adjust
Taste the smoothie and add more honey if you’d like it sweeter. Blend again briefly, then pour into a glass and enjoy immediately!
Additions and Substitutions
- Frozen Mango substitute: Fresh mango and a cup of ice, frozen peaches or frozen papaya
- Frozen Pineapple substitute: Fresh pineapple and a cup of ice, or frozen passion fruit
- Coconut milk substitute: Almond milk, oat milk, dairy milk, juice, water or coconut water
- Honey substitute: Maple syrup, simple syrup or sweetened condensed milk
Tips for the Best Mango Pineapple Smoothie
- Use frozen fruit: This makes the smoothie thick and cold without needing ice.
- Taste your fruit: Some mangoes are sweeter than others, so adjust the honey as needed.
- Blend long enough: Smoothies should be silky, not chunky. Give it a full 30 to 60 seconds.
- Drink it right away: Smoothies are always best fresh from the blender.
Fun Ways to Customize Your Mango Pineapple Smoothie
One of my favorite things about smoothies is how flexible they are! Once you know the basic formula, you can change it up depending on what fruit you have in the freezer. Here are a few of my favorite ways to switch it up.
- Make it extra tropical: Add ½ cup passion fruit or banana for even more sweet tropical flavor.
- Brighten it with citrus:Â A small squeeze of lime makes the mango taste even fresher.
- Make it more filling:Â Add Greek yogurt or a scoop of vanilla protein powder.
- Add some texture: Blend in 1–2 tablespoons chia seeds or flaxseeds for extra fiber.
- Turn it into a smoothie bowl:Â Use a little less liquid and top with granola, coconut flakes, and fresh fruit.
Behind the Mango Pineapple Smoothie Recipe

When I first moved to Thailand, I quickly learned something super important.
Thailand might have the best fruit smoothies in the universe!
Street vendors line up fresh fruit in colorful rows. Mango, pineapple, watermelon, dragon fruit, papaya. You point to what you want, they toss it in a blender with ice, simple syrup and sometimes coconut milk, and a minute later you’re holding a cup of tropical happiness.
One of my favorite combos quickly became mango and pineapple. The mango makes the smoothie creamy, sunshine yellow and naturally sweet, while the pineapple adds that bright tang that wakes everything up.
Now that we live in the mountains of NC, sadly so faraway from a Thai smoothie street vendor, I’m so glad that I can recreate these simple fruit smoothies in my own kitchen! This version keeps it just like the ones you’d find at Thai smoothie stalls. Fruit, coconut milk, a little sweetness, and a blender.
Simple ingredients, big tropical flavor. But feel free to add in whatever fun additions you like!
Mango Pineapple Smoothie Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! Mango and pineapple are a classic pairing. Mango brings natural sweetness and a creamy texture, while pineapple adds bright tangy flavor that balances everything out.
Mango and pineapple provide vitamin C, fiber, and natural fruit sugars, while coconut milk adds healthy fats that make the smoothie more satisfying.
Blend frozen mango, frozen pineapple, coconut milk, and a little honey until smooth and creamy. Adjust the coconut milk to reach your favorite smoothie consistency.
Yes. This recipe is naturally dairy free because it uses coconut milk instead of dairy milk or yogurt.
Yes, but add a handful of ice to keep the smoothie cold and thick.
It’s up to you! But I like it thick and creamy, yet still easy to sip through a straw. If it’s too thick, add a splash of coconut milk. If it’s too thin, add a little more frozen fruit to thicken it up.
Smoothies are best enjoyed right away. If you need to make it ahead, store it in the fridge and shake or blend again before drinking.
